Pishrow (پیشرو) is an instrumental form in Persian classical music. It is the first piece of music played during a performance. The word Pishrow consists of two particles pish, which means "ahead", and row, "that which goes"; coming to mean "that which comes first".
Pishrow can be played in different rhythmic cycles called Osoul. Also the melody can be composed in different musical scales called Maghâm.
Structure of a Pishrow consists of several movements called Khâneh which means "room". Pishrow begins with a Sar-khâneh meaning the "main room". So it can be imagined as a big house with several rooms. Each Khâneh ends with an unchanged particle called Molâzemeh meaning "accompaniment". Pishrow ends when Molâzemeh is plyed after the last Khâneh.
Considering a Pishrow containing 4 Khâneh's the structure would look like:
S - M - K1 - M- K2 - M - K3 - M - K4 - M
with:
S: Sar-khâneh
K1: first Khâneh
K2: second Khâneh
K3: third Khâneh
K4: forth Khâneh
M: Molâzemeh
